Early Super League leaders St Helens made short work of Salford as they ran in six tries to make it four wins out of four.

Postponed because of Friday’s snow at the Totally Wicked Stadium, the rescheduled game was only given the go-ahead four hours before kick-off.

Saints led 8-2 at the break due largely to Tommy Makinson’s converted try.

But Ben Barba ran in two more, before Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Jonny Lomax and Luke Thompson all crossed too.

Salford, who claimed their first win, a 36-12 victory at home to Hull Kingston Rovers last Friday night, have just two points from their first three games.

St Helens: Lomax; Makinson, Percival, Swift, Roby; Amor, Taia; Wilkin, Thompson, Peyroux, Richardson, Grace, Barba.

Interchanges: Fages, Walmsley, McCarthy-Scarsbrook.

Salford: O’Brien; Welham, Sa’u, Evalds, Lui; Littlejohn, Tomkins; Jones, Flanagan, Tasi, McCarthy, Mossop, Bibby.

Interchanges: Kopczak, Burgess, Nakubuwai.
